David Hasselhoff, 53, and actress Pamela Bach, were married on Dec. 9, 1989, and have two daughters, ages 13 and 15, according to their court papers.
The Los Angeles Superior Court documents indicate a brewing custody battle, as each parent is seeking physical custody of the teenagers with visitation rights for his or her estranged spouse.
Bach also wants sole legal custody of the girls and visits with their father to be monitored.
Hasselhoff indicated in his divorce papers that he wants to share legal custody with Bach, 42, whose acting credits include the films "Castlerock" and "More Than Puppy Love."
The former couple also disagree about spousal support, which Bach is seeking, but Hasselhoff doesn't want to pay, according to their court papers.
Each cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split. Hasselhoff got his break playing Michael Knight in the 1980s series "Knight Rider," about a crime fighter and his indestructible supercar. He has signed on to revisit that role in a film version of the show, which is currently in pre-production.
